Celestial Cosmetics - The Curse of Miss Ives

Hey pals!

It's fast approaching my favourite time of the year - Halloween! I'm eternally jealous of anyone lucky enough to live in a country that actually cares about Halloween, so I celebrate the only way I really can - a horror marathon and buying all the Halloween nail polish.

This year Celestial Cosmetics are releasing two separate trios for Halloween with unique inspirations. The Halloween Story trio (which I'll show you Friday) is more of a classic Halloween collection, and The Curse of Miss Ives trio, inspired by the character Vanessa Ives from the TV series Penny Dreadful.

Medium grey linear holo. I adore anything grey and this is no exception. Soft and ethereal, I can see this entering my regular rotation of colours for a quick and gorgeous mani. Even looking at my own pictures all I can think is that I wish I was wearing it right now!

The formula is completely gorgeous, smooth and easy to apply with a beautiful natural shine. My swatch shows 3 coats and no top coat. I couldn't fault this polish if I tried!

Black scattered holo with silver flakes and black holo micro glitter. All that holo and flake gives this such a unique finish. It rarely looks truly black, taking on tones of brown and pewter in certain light. I was totally obsessed with waving my hands around in front of my face watching it shift and sparkle. I'm guessing it's some kind of bottled witchcraft!

I found it nice and easy to apply, though it does dry with a little texture. Treat it as you would any other glittery polish and take care to wait between coats to ensure everything stays put, and use a nice thick top coat for a perfect smooth finish.

Rich antique rose linear holo with gold shimmer. This was described as burgundy but I find it much pinker than I imagine burgundy to be, and liked the sound of antique rose. The gold shimmer is absolutely not shy, it almost acts like a shifty multichrome bending in the light! The holo twinkles away delicately, the perfect addition to the unique base.

I applied this over a ridge filling base coat - I had a sense it might show up all my imperfections otherwise. Whether right or wrong it looked absolutely flawless over the ridge filler! It's lovely and smooth to apply and dries with a beautiful shine. My swatch shows 2 coats and no top coat.

The Curse of Miss Ives trio will be available from 9am ACST Sunday 25th September (check here for your time zone!)
