Celestial Cosmetics - Love Never Dies

Hi lovelies!

Today I’m treating you to an in depth look at the new collection from Celestial Cosmetics, Love Never Dies. A collection of six shades inspired by the gorgeous costumes of the 1992 film Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

Much like the film, this collection is a feast for the eyes with a range of rich and luscious shades sure to get your blood flowing. Let’s take a look!

THE BLOOD IS THE LIFE

Celestial Cosmetics - The Blood is the Life | Love Never Dies collection

A vampy dark red duochrome with a subtle glowing gold shift. I usually don’t fall over myself for reds but this one… unfff. Divine. The hint of duochrome shift and ripples of gold across the surface of the blood red base is to die for. With any story about vampires blood is going to be the main focus, and that’s the natural inspiration for the colour and name of this shade, along with Vlad's armour and one of Wilhelmina's gowns.

THE BRIDES

A tarnished shimmering gold with shifting green flakes. I think this one might be a little divisive but I adore it. I probably would have passed on this had I not worn it for myself, but I found myself fascinated and ended up falling in love. There’s a hint of copper in the finish and flakes and though it appears quite foil-like in the bottle the finish is more of a shimmer. This was inspired by the brides of Dracula and their aged, worn gowns and flashy jewellery. I feel like it matches the tainted aging brides perfectly.

THE DEVIL’S CONCUBINE

A fresh and glowing linear holo, red but with an orange twist. This is one of the shades that give the collection a nice balance between dark and light. It’s bright and fun, inspired by the young and once innocent Lucy Westenra. She falls victim to Dracula's 'charms' and ends up in some memorable outfits, including this fashion forward orange dress

GOD’S MADMEN

Celestial Cosmetics - God's Madmen | Love Never Dies collection

Metallic pewter grey with golden flakes and gold holo microglitter. I’m impressed how this is absolutely grey, not silver despite being so metallic and shiny. In bright light or on a sunny day I found this a little too flashy and the gold ended up being a little overwhelmed. I’m kind of kicking myself for not trying this with a matte top coat because I feel like it would be perfection. This shade was inspired by the non-vampire men of the film, those who seek to destroy the Count, and their muted, often grey, suits and vests. I’m running off to try this with matte top coat ASAP!

MINA

Celestial Cosmetics - Mina | Love Never Dies collection

Fresh mint green holo with lively white sparks. I live for this colour! I really like these kind of not-quite-pastel shades, I find them so wearable and they never fail to make me feel happy. The extra pop of sparkle is appreciated too! This shade was inspired by Wilhelmina, soon to be married to her beloved, who ends up falling desperately for Vlad. He sees his long lost love Elisabeta in her, and their relationship is the core of the film. Mina (and Elisabeta) are often seen in green, a colour which stands out both in the collection and the film as something a little different.

OCEANS OF TIME

Rich oxford blue with stunning silver flakes and a silver shimmer. This has a rich jelly base that lets you build layers of silver swimming in the deep blue. I love the depth of this polish and it's totally unique in my collection! The colour is inspired by the tinted lenses of Count Dracula's pince nez - an unusual inspiration, but it makes for a gorgeous polish.

Overall I was really impressed with this collection. With an inspiration that screams dark and vampy, Nicki and her collaborator Maria have come up with a nice variety of shades and finishes. I found the formula on all six to be excellent - fuss free application and with the exception of one dried to a smooth finish. God's Madmen was the only polish that I felt would have benefit from a thicker top coat, or an extra coat of Light Year.

The Love Never Dies collection will be available from 10am ACST Wednesday 24th August/8:30pm EDT Tuesday 23rd August. To check your timezone, click here!
