RuPaul's Drag Race Season 8 - Shady Politics Nail Art

Hey squirrel friends!
Competition is getting fierce hennies! The queens campaigned to become the first drag president of the United States and Derrick grew a personality, who knew? I actually loved watching him work with Bob, turning their mutual dislike of each other into the best advertising challenge clip maybe ever. Yes, Bob again slayed the competition top and bottom, but I think the star of this week's episode was Michelle's amazing rack. I barely noticed anything else tbh.

Before we move on, I am incredibly sad to say that this is my last week of Drag Race nail art! I'm heading on a European adventure for 6 weeks, and ain't no way I am keeping this up away from home. Luckily I have an amazing friend stepping in for a special guest post while I'm away to give you one more fix - I'll let you know who at the end of the post ;)

So the main challenge this week was a knockout. Even if everyone else had failed miserably, we have the gift of Bob the Drag Queen giving BJ's to all American's. That's Better Jobs of course... get your mind out of the gutter!

The runway challenge was apparently 1920's movie eleganza, aka Detox at the Season 5 finale realness. I was gagging for the runway but was a little disappointed - I would have loved some more 'pretty', though Naomi's tribute to Raven was just phenomenal.

Bob the Drag Queen

I truly hated this look. Clowns freak the hell outta me and while the makeup was executed well, I just could not deal.

Just because I don't like the whole thing doesn't mean it won't make great nail art, and I even had the most perfect stamping plate to make it happen.

Kim Chi

Kim Chi is all about that face. Her makeup is always on point and it was especially so this week, when paired with her tearing up during Michelle's ridiculously harsh critiques that essentially boiled down to the fact Kim Chi has an accent and a lisp. I teared up along with her :'(

While her face was a work or art I was also loving the headpiece, which I recreated by stamping glossy top coat over matte nail art. I didn't want to/am not talented enough to paint her face on my nail so I took some of the basic shapes as inspiration.

Thorgy Thor

I loved Thorgy's runway again this week! I thought it managed to look within the era while still being unique, and props for rocking a cropped pant. I didn't like the whole "here's my giant cigarette that I'm going to put out on my palm" routine though, it was unsettling somehow.

I almost feel lazy with all the stamping this week, and though this image doesn't match perfectly I loved that it had the same kind of space/negative space look as Thorgy's shirt..

It was a lip sync for the ages this week - Chi Chi absolutely owned every moment of her performance. Thorgy was an incredibly graceful loser, you could see that she knew Chi Chi had it long before the song was over and the ending was quite lovely to watch. Girls better watch out, Chi Chi can perform!

Who was your favourite queen this week?

Bob! Obviously! This challenge was made for Bob and he capitalised on every opportunity possible to make it memorable.

Of course, I promised I'd tell you who will be doing a very special Drag Race guest post here while I'm away! It will be none other than the wonderful and super talented Emily of Very Emily! I am super excited to see what she does, she's every bit the megafan to properly take care of you all one more time!
