Swatches & Review: Shades of Phoenix - New Fires and Phoenix 3.0

Hi lovelies!

A few months back Teneil from Shades of Phoenix added some polishes to the Fire Collection (previously reviewed here) and sent them to me to review along with a cute glitter topper, but I wasn't quick enough to get my swatches in before she closed for maternity leave. Now the store is open again I thought I'd jump on the opportunity to share my swatches!

A beautiful rich purple creme with sparkly black microglitter, silver holo microglitter, subtle silver shimmer and metallic purple squares. You can never have too many purples in your collection and I love that this packs in such rich colour and is flecked with different subtle sparks of light.

The formula is beautiful - a great consistency that applies easily with no dragging. Magikfire was opaque in two coats, though I would recommend using a thick top coat with this - it's not super thirsty but would benefit from a dash of Peita's Polish Quick, Gloss Me Up! or Glisten & Glow HK Girl for a perfectly smooth finish.

Squishy yellow jelly with sparkly black microglitter, silver holo microglitter, subtle silver shimmer and yellowy/copper small hexes. I looooove this one - I am always on a quest for the next great yellow and this one is so much fun! It's got a hint of caramel tone which I really love, it's unlike any yellow I own.

This also had a great formula, it glides on the nail easily and smoothly. The glitter is distributed nice and even across the nail. I did three coats and still had some VNL, but didn't feel like a fourth was necessary. If VNL bothers you just pop on another coat, or use a pale nude base. The jelly formula meant the glitters smooth out easier in this one, but I'd recommend glossing it up with something nice and rich anyway.

A beautiful autumnal glitter topper with warm tones of brown, orange, yellow and red. This was created in celebration of the brands second birthday earlier this year, and is the third Phoenix glitter topper in a series. The first two are no longer available, but I've been told to keep an eye on the Shades of Phoenix Instagram... something about a giveaway? Get on over and follow Shades of Phoenix on Instagram to find out!

I don't use a lot of glitter toppers but this is a really nice addition to my collection as I adore brown and copper tones. My swatches are one dabbed coat over Marmoreal (above) and Crims (below) and I was really happy with the glitter payoff.

Phoenix 3.0 and both new Fire polishes are available now at shadesofphoenix.indiemade.com - along with the rest of the Fire collection. Make sure you check out the range and keep an eye out for the return of the popular The Places She Will Go collection!
