Before you think I read trashy Twilight fan fiction let me cut you off right there with a big ol' NOPE.
This hot mess of a mani is inspired by Jasper Fforde's Shades of Grey, a witty speculative fiction novel about a society where social class is determined by the ability to perceive colour.
In Chromatacia (kind of a fictional United Kingdom) the higher the end of the colour spectrum you can see, the higher your social status. The Purples are essentially royalty, while Reds are commoners.
I was partially inspired by the cover of the book, but also wanted to represent the network of pipes that supply synthetic colour to parts of the better off regions. I know all of this sounds completely ridiculous, because it is! It's a strange story set in a strange world but it's a really funny and smart story.
I used a base of Pretty Serious Presence, then stamped with Emily de Molly EDM03 using Ulta3 Black Satin. I then filled in random squares with some Powder Perfect Stained Glass shades then filled in the rest with Shades of Phoenix Knight in Shining Armour.
Now I'm on catch up duties so I'll be back with fashion nails before you know it!
