Negative space gradient nail art

Hi lovelies!

I realised this week that I tend to put all my nail art on Instagram, and don't really to show off the things I put the most effort into here on the blog. So today begins my conscious effort to share my favourite nail art in more than one tiny phone screen sized image!

This was done for the final prompt of this month's gradient themed Weekly Nail Art Challenge. Today's prompt was negative space - which I was not so keen on, because I had a super staining incident a couple months back that's still growing it's way out :(

Fortunately I had enough clean new nail to block out a square half moon (is that a thing? I had no idea what to call it!) and do a vertical gradient with two gorgeous a England shades, Avalon and Lady of Shallot. I don't know whether I'm impressed or bummed about it looking less like a lovely gradient and more like a blackened purple duochrome.

To block off the negative space I used Protect n Peel*, the new liquid latex product from Hit the Bottle which was super convenient - I could mask off my skin at the same time and remove all in one easy peel.

The glossy finish was done with Peita's Polish Quick, Gloss Me Up!, and the satin finish is with another newbie from Hit the Bottle suitably named Satin Finish*. I love the waxy look it gives and so far hasn't given me any of those horrible chalky spots that matte top coats always do.

You can find a England polishes in their full lists of stockists here, and follow on Facebook.

You can find Hit the Bottle here, as well as at international stockists Beautometry, Hypnotic Polish and Rainbow Connection. Make sure to follow on Facebook for updates too!
