One Hand Washes The Other - Solid Scents

Hi lovelies!

Something a bit different from me today, just because I thought switching things up a little every now and then might be fun! On a whim I purchased some OHWTO solid scent samples from Femme Fatale and I've been loving them so much I had to share.

Perfumes usually aren't my thing - I own a single bottle of perfume and it essentially collects dust. I have super sensitive sinuses so I don't like spritzing myself with heavy scents. I've tried one commercial solid perfume before and was underwhelmed but for a couple of dollars I thought these were worth a try.

I picked three scents:

Blackberry Buckle - "Blackberry preserves and fresh-picked Blackberries, Lemon zest, and Buttery crumbly Cake filling with a Spiced crumb topping"

In the pan it was far more lemony than expected, but once applied it develops that spicy cakey deliciousness that I'd hoped for. Perfect for winter afternoon hot chocolate dates with your lady gang.

Butterfly - "Colorful and bright, like a flower in flight. Ripe Apricots, Nectar, Mimosa blooms, Black Currants, Oranges, Melons, and a hint of fresh Mint"

Gorgeously fruity, like a fresh apricot jam and lightly stewed berries. Not overly sweet, but I wouldn't recommend if you don't like fruity scents. Luckily I do, and I've been using this one almost daily!

This is Not For You - "Like a favorite sweater, warm and cozy and always the perfect fit. Vanilla, Sandalwood, Sugar and Cedar, with hints of Myrrh, Amber, and Amyris"

As an owner of faulty sinuses I really only get a sweet vanilla with a hint of sandalwood from this one. I also don't have enough experience with perfumes to really know what the other ingredients would bring to this, so maybe they are there and blend well? In any case, it's a lovely comforting scent but probably something I'd rather in a candle or wax melt than a perfume.

With each scent I applied in the usual spots I'd spritz a perfume - behind my ears, at the base of my throat and at my wrists. The balm sinks into your skin easily and doesn't leave greasy residue.

As these are a solid balm they don't have the lasting power of a typical perfume, but I found I was getting a good few hours before I noticed the smell was gone. The samples are ultra portable but even a full sized would be easy to throw in your handbag for reapplying during the day.

I'm definitely going to pick up a full sized Butterfly next time I place an order at Femme Fatale, and might grab a few more samples for good measure.

One Hand Washes The Other can be found on Etsy (but currently on holiday mode), and Femme Fatale Cosmetics also carry a selection of solid scents, perfume oils, soaps and more.

Back to the usual programming next time, see you then! x
