Confession: I once hated winter. I couldn't think of anything worse than the cold and the wearing thirty layers of clothing and the horrid things the cold dry air does to my skin.
But... I'm coming around. I appreciate the snuggly nights in. I can drink ALL THE TEA! Then these four bottles of wintery happiness from Two Birds Lacquer come along and make me warm to winter even more. Grab your coziest blanket and settle in for some winter joy!

HOT WATER BOTTLE
A classic winter must have is the trusty hot water bottle. Unfortunately I can't be trusted with large volumes of boiling water (no, really. I'm talking hospital visit clumsiness), so I stick with a nice wheat pack these days but whatever's your jam, some heat is a must.
Can we talk about this colour though? It's a gloriously warm mustard yellow (not quite as orange as it appears against my skin) with a subtle shimmery glow that gave me a serious case of the flails. It was perfectly opaque in two coats and self levelled wonderfully. The uber shiny gold glitters flowed nicely with the polish and didn't drag at all.
LATE NIGHT MILO
Honestly, if you have never indulged in the milky choc malt glory that is a hot Milo at 10pm on a Tuesday in July then who even are you??
Late Night Milo is a seriously brilliant crelly - it was opaque in two coats but I greedily wanted MOAR glitter so I did three. The milky white base is packed with brown, copper and bronze hexes and micro glitter giving the white a bit of warmth. It's again a fantastic formula, it applies super easily and the glitters sit flat with zero effort.
For those who don't know me I am a total introvert. I definitely gain my energy by the restorative powers of indoors, music, TV and hiding in my nail room. Rainy days are like the world saying "hey Jae, take it easy today! Forget about the world outside and watch the first season of Bob's Burgers for the tenth time!"
Rainy Days, polish style, is a dark dreary grey jelly loaded with grey holo micro glitter. Indoors it's gorgeously silver with flashes of rainbows. Ironically, Rainy Days is best appreciated in the sunshine where it comes alive with colour. The formula is excellent (do you see a theme here?), micro glitters can so easily drag and bald but I found it flowed on the nail well. I did three very thin coats, but I think two normal coats would be fine. The glitter does need feeding though, so go with two coats of top coat if you like it super smooth.
So it's only tangentially related to red wine, but I immediately think of the Sangria Mouth moment from Happy Endings when I think of red wine. I'm not classy enough to drink red wine like a proper grown up, the fear of splashing out $30+ for a bottle I might not like is just too risky when I know I can get loaded on scotch.
I can heartily endorse this Red Wine with it's deep red jelly base and generous lashings of micro glitter. The sparkle is subtle but always evident in all kinds of light. This polish is yet another another great formula with an easy formula needing only two coats. I didn't test it but as with any red, protect your nails well with a good base coat. The glitter isn't as hungry as Rainy Days, but definitely benefits from a good quality top coat like Peita's Polish Quick, Gloss Me Up!
So with that, let's embrace winter with open arms and gorgeous nails! These will be available this weekend (27-28 June) from twobirdslacquer.com
