My Favourite Things - May 2015

Hi lovelies!

This little blog has been going for over a year now - a milestone that slipped by a few weeks ago without me even noticing - so I thought I'd start showing a little more of my personality and life outside of my love of polish.

So begins my first monthly roundup of my favourite things! Obviously polish is going to feature pretty heavily, but there will be plenty of other things that I want to share my love of with you all!
My favourite... POLISH

L: Shades of Phoenix 'Fred's Courage', R: Two Birds Lacquer 'Merely Moss'
When I reviewed the Shades of Potter collection from Shades of Phoenix, I didn't actually pick Fred's Courage* as one of my top picks. But over the weeks this is the one I've been aching to wear more of. It's really an outstanding orange polish. Available from shadesofphoenix.indiemade.com

Merely Moss* from Two Birds Lacquer was and still is my top pick from the Just So collection. I can't say enough positive things about this polish, it's unique and strange and beautiful. Available from twobirdslacquer.com

My favourite... THINGS

The Mad Men season finale, where my ship (heck, everyone's ship) finally came in! #TeamSteggy forever <3

I'm gonna miss the hell outta that show!

This tearjerking Hot Chip album review from ccpopculture.com (aka my husband)

My quote of the month, from Jane Caro's short piece related to the Don't Dis My Appearance campaign:
"There are far worse things than being fat. You can be stupid or boring, for example. In fact, being obsessed about your weight and controlling everything that goes into your mouth practically guarantees you will be boring, even if you were once quite intelligent."
Chew - the new addition to my burgeoning comic collection. The tale of a psychic detective - a cibopathic detective to be precise. Which is to say, whatever he eats leaves an impression of how that thing came to be. Yup, there's gonna be some cannibalisin' of bad guys!

These amazing hot/cold flasks from Made by Fressko. I got a 300mL flask with my May Bellabox and - until a careless person flung my bag containing my flask onto some concrete, smashing the bottom clear off - it went with me everywhere for a solid 8 days. I'll be buying another very soon!

My favourite... NAIL ART

L: Creepy stripes over Essie Dressed to Kilt R: #TeamPearl nails with Gloss n Sparkle Bag of Bones

Not much from me this month, but I feel my mojo returning. I'm definitely going to get stuck into some challenges in June - I just had a set of 25 Pueen stamping plates arrive this week, and am expecting some Pure Color brushes in the mail this week!

Elsewhere on the internet, More Nail Polish did an incredible gradient & stamped optical illusion that you need to see!

@Superflynails did a gorgeous watercolour + drips combo that looks like it would be a lot of fun to recreate.

Last but not least, my favourite mani from The Digit-al Dozen's GEOMETRIC week was this simple and striking design by The Lacquerologist. If in doubt, add triangles!

If you've made it to the end, thanks for sticking with me! I hope you enjoyed a bit more of an insight into the things I love outside of polish land, and I'd love to know what you've been into this month!
